The reason for this is that Realismus felt no one would ever buy trailer loads of Straw and Hay, so that's why they blocked the selling of loose material. In fact check the prices in the Seasons Menu to see when the best time of year is to sell your Straw and Hay bales and work from that. Straw Bales and Hay Bales do have value, despite it not showing on the prices screen in the main menu and can be sold as normal.
